It appears that those who live by the media and need it to survive for whatever reason, be it profits, fame, politics; often go thru times of being loved and being hated. It seems it is just part of the sound and fury of the mass media hysteria. Almost like a live by the sword, die by the sword motif.
We see with Osama bin Laden that his fame comes from his ability to remain a symbol within the "jihad community" and when he comes out of favor, with the audience or takes a back seat to other events, his notoriety falls and he is less and less affective. With Paris Hilton, her fame came from the media and the media crashed her even faster than they had built her up.
Much of Obama and Oprah's fame comes from the media, the media builds up famous people and the tears them down without remorse. It does not matter if you are villain, talk show host, politician or young heiress. Those who use the media to build their brand names for profits, good or evil, they all will see peaks and valleys in their popularity and timing is everything. I guess that's show business?
The question is; Will Oprah's campaigning for Obama, ruin Oprah's well earned fame? Will Obama end up like Paris Hilton in a downturn right before the Democratic Nomination or election? There have been numerous people of strong will make come backs from being battered by the media, that is a given.
Let's hope Osama is not one of them, and that Paris Hilton is thru a change of heart and philanthropy, reminding our next generation that responsibility counts. Let us watch and see what happened to Oprah and Obama, as they are the current Bright Light and Shooting Star.
