John Mccain Campaign Headquarters

Ever since Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign, when James Carville (the mastermind of the Clinton win) hung a reminder in the Little Rock (AR) campaign headquarters that read, "The economy, stupid," one "stupid" thing after another has been used by candidates to separate themselves from the pack or for political pundits to point us the way home.

"It's the deficit, stupid" -Mother Jones, 2004.

"It's the corporation, stupid" is another version, as is "It's the math, stupid."

In January 2008, Time magazine dubbed a cover story, "It's the voters, stupid," referring to the New Hampshire presidential primary in which, despite the fact that all polls showed Barack Obama would win handily, Hillary Clinton was the victor by a sizeable margin.

It's NOT the economy. It's not math, it's not corporations (well, partly), it's not even President George Bush that is ruining our nation, our economy, our environment and our future.

It's OIL, stupid! When is SOMEONE going to say it?

John Edwards talks about building a "green infrastructure." What's that? Subsidizing people to put up solar panels? That's not gonna do it.

John McCain says the jobs lost in the decimated auto industry "aren't coming back." Way to instill confidence John!

Why are we in Iraq, anyway? OIL. Not freedom, not a wicked Saddam Hussein...not to protect anyone, except those interested in the profits of OIL.

Say it, people, say it, THE PROBLEM IS OIL. Oil is the coin of the realm. Those with the oil have the money. Those without the oil (US), are at the mercy of the oil cartels. And we are, truly, at their mercy. There has never been a time in our history when we were so powerless as a nation. Hillary is right, Bush is pathetic...WE are pathetic!

Just what is our greatest national resource, anyway? It surely isn't oil. But we can build state-of-the-art machines and computers and just about anything else. Americans are the best in the world at figuring out how to do things and designing a workable solution. We went to the moon almost forty years ago! We can build anything!

LET'S BUILD THINGS THAT DON'T RUN ON OIL. Cars, trucks, planes, and factories.

If you think we don't have the technology to make and burn alternative fuels, RIGHT NOW, you are mistaken. The real problem is this: oil equals money. The people with the oil money, many of whom are powerful Americans, DON'T WANT US TO FIX OUR PROBLEM! They are swimming in bounty from $100 a barrel crude, with no end in sight. And they are going to get and get and get while the gettin' is good. It is the best it has ever been for them right now!

Change, change, change, change, change. Nice word used liberally these days. CHANGE IS REQUIRED OR WE WILL BE CONQUERED.

It's the OIL, stupid. Change the oil.
